Rolls-Royce Phantom VI - A Royal Favourite
The Number One State Car
Take A Peek
This magnificent limousine holds an important place in modern Western Australian history. It arrived in Perth in 1974 for use by the Governor as is indicated by the Crown registration plate.
For more than 30 years it has ferried numerous members of the Royal Family, Governors General, State Governors, State & Federal political and Community leaders, Overseas Dignitaries and Heroes, etc.
The car has only travelled 67,000 kilometees and is one of only 374 built between 1968 and 1992. Very few came to Australia.
In 2020, the Rolls-Royce was gifted to the Motor Museum of WA by the Governor of Western Australia, the Honorable Kim Beazly.
The Royal's Ride
Rolls-Royce described the Phantom VI: “This Rolls-Royce is not simply an automobile, it is an institution on wheels. It is Great Britain.”
It is believed that Queen Elizabeth II was indeed chauffeured in this magnificent car during a visit to Perth in 1974.
At the date of this post being published, we were still waiting for official confirmation on this point.
Definitely though, Princess Anne and other Royal Family members enjoyed traveling in style whilst visiting Western Australia over the years.
Enjoy a virtual tour of the car as part of the 3D tour of the museum.
We have also taken 360 Panorama shots inside the front and rear cabin to enable you to fully experience what it must have felt like for the Royals to sit in whilst being taken to their engagements.
